Meet the Sternotherus odoratus
Commonly knows as musk turtle or "stinkpot" due to its ability to release a foul odor from its scent glands, this species is native to Southeastern Canada. Typically colored grey, black or brown, they are possibly the cutest species of turtle
What makes it a Reptile?- It is a turtle (although snakes, lizards and alligators are reptiles as well)
- They produce egg with protective membrane -> amniote egg - They have scales on their body, often used for protection - They can't regulate their own body temperature (ectothemic) |
